Change the on-premises data gateway service account

By default, The on-premises data gateway is configured to use NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService for the Windows service sign-in credential. This may be problematic for organizations who use a proxy server which requires user authentication to access the Internet. For these organizations it may be required to change the on-premises data gateway service Windows service sign-in credential to an AD user with proxy access.

You can change the Service Settings on the Summary page of the gateway installer wizard or by accessing the on-premises data gateway app from the Windows start menu. You will need the the recovery key created during the gateway installer wizard in order to change the on-premises data gateway service Windows service sign-in credential.

On the Service Settings page, select Change account.

When prompted to confirm that you'd like to change the account select Change account.

You may be prompted to login here, if so provide the email address that you used when installing the on-premises data gateway.
